I see the contradiction you point out. Allow me to attempt to explain my opinions.

My belief is that crowd experience can make or break a concert, regardless of a great performance by the entertainers. I felt a generally unfriendly vibe from the people that surrounded me, despite attempts to claim ground in multiple areas of the room. I found the touchy/feely couples to be distracting and the rude comments to be unnecessary. All of this diverted my attention from the actual show, leaving a sour taste in my mouth regarding the atmosphere in the audience.

The last line was my attempt to point out that, even though I personally did not enjoy the people with whom I watched the show, I respect their appreciation for the band. Tired, because the show was gratifyingly long. Perspiring, because it was boiling in there by the end of the night.

I was in the back of the crowd with my buddy, Ben, and I have to say there were quite a few of us back there holding down the “get the fuck up and yell along” fort. And, by your own words, you say the crowd was unenergetic and unfriendly, but you end your review with this line:

“A tired and perspiring crowd clapped with gratitude and patted the band on the back as they exited the stage…”

So, which one was it?
