When you listen to Elsinore’s The Chemicals EP, you instantly tap into something special. And if you have ever had the chance to see the band live, you have a further understanding of just how close they hold dear to their music.
It’s obvious the pride they have taken into making this modest EP. The opening title track is the most memorable with jangly guitar hooks and a lovely pop vocal construct that makes you want to wrap your arms around this song and embrace the awakening.
“Body of Water” is more contemplative in spirit that take the ideals of ‘70s introspective and turns it into a hovering comfort through metaphysics. “With every swallow, every heartbeat. You sense the water in your body. It’s hard to miss it.”
You can picture candlelight surrounding the band as they flicker through “Evens,” taking special care to tread lightly through soft hums and gentle drumming.
The conscious effort to fill the gaps through creativity, this is a group of musicians who play off of each other so well that it makes these songs soar effortlessly.
Elsinore may be the best underground indie pop band you will hear this year.
