There is a whole lotta whoop ass to Glimr’s sound. From the get-go, “Sunburned At Midnight” (an appropriate title when you hear the song), is a fierce and raging rocker that uses dynamics between verse and chorus keeping the song from purely imploding on itself.
Faith Of Our Fathers reminds me of all those ruffage indie bands that came out of the mid-’90s, the garage-rock sound of the Flaming Lips, the Meat Puppets, or the Flat Earth scene here in Indianapolis, the fuzziness and rawness of this album only adds to the effect that Faith Of Our Fathers will kick you in the liver.
The album is unforgiving and it is what it is. “Stitch This, My Stitched Witch” is an undercurrent of a song that uses contemplation as the punchline with transitions galore along the way.
Turn up “I Know His Blood Will Make Me Whole” will make your ears bleed with all of its feedback Pussy Galore-esque noisy goodness. If this song was what everything else sounded like Faith Of Our Fathers would be a failure, but the dismally recorded structure of this song only serves as an artistic accentuation.
“The Group, Rocking At The Point” is a late night after-hours organ hum that leaves you alcohol drenched for 10 seconds before the band picks back up with the ending “I Will Manifest,” a reflective, mostly instrumental song that builds on itself to climax and fades out the album.
