If I were trapped on a deserted island, the Annuals’ Sweet Sister would pull me through. The swaying grooves of “Loxstep,” its breezy rhythm, and the eclectically weird soft samples of various sounds make you want to get up and dance any way you can.
Continuing the journey that saturated Such Fun, this EP gives us just enough to want more from this band while enjoying what was given to us.
From their get-down diddy of “Holler And Howl” to the mellow pop constructions of “Turncloaking” the unexpected becomes the expected with this band, and the only thing you want to do is embrace the ride. When you get to the song “Flesh And Blood” you realize just how special this band is as they can take a song so simple and turn it into an elaborate presentation of the creative, like the fantastic teaming up with the surreal.
Independent music never sounded better than with Annuals as they never cease to amaze. These are the songs daydreams are made of.
