Not much new happening here I’m afraid. The songs aren’t bad, they’re simply not giving me anything I haven’t been given already.

Ah, and I’m in love. Here’s an EP I highly recommend. Think Northern Soul meets Hall & Oats meets Phil Spectre.

I say that to say that I am personally not a fan The Prids music. They have all the elements in their music which should make me a huge fan.

Melvins – Chicken Switch (Music Review)

Melvins have not just given us a new release but more so an incredibly eclectic compilation. This album behaves more like a various artists sampler where the Melvins’ music is distilled through a wide spectrum of personalities and creative processes.

The Depreciation Guild – In Her Gentle Jaws (Music Review)

I’m not as totally geeked by The Depreciation Guild as I am The Pains of Being Pure At Heart. It’s a little cleaner and a little more electronic. They share a similar mid-’80s frame of reference where influence is concerned. But where The Pains take pages from My Bloody Valentine and Jesus & Mary Chain’s songbook, The Depreciation Guild (as they say themselves) build a little more on Cocteau Twins.
