Prevrat has been known to blend haunting power pop that came out of the garage of the early ’60s with a strange aura of early ’80s ethereal alternative like it was a crusade in the spiritual realm. We heard it on their 2010 EP Coup d’Tat and now we hear it on “Abandoned,” their latest song for the upcoming release Manic Diversions.

Their album, to be released in June 2011 on Russian Winter Records hopes to have the nervous urgency that we felt with Coup d’Tat. The songs filled not just felt embedded in time but more like timeless songs burnt in our mind. That’s how “Abandoned” feels. Victoria Rau’s vocals may be to blame. Then again the music does a great job at fitting in to the theoretical composition of the songwriting. Overall, it’s a great song.
